This is the link to the original design of the voting machine. I think this is an important part of representing liberty, as the U.S. was founded with two major ideas of self-determination and the pursuit of happiness. I believe those two are inherently linked, and through voting, you choose what direction your country is going and how it will help you in those pursuits. So in my opinion, the machine that facilitates this process and expression of personal liberty is a fundamental symbol of the idea.
