This poignant and funny elegy by Julia Vinograd (1943-2018) mourns the loss of Berkeley bookseller Morrie “Moe” Moskowitz. A prominent figure in the 1960s Berkeley poetry scene, Vinograd was a pioneer of street poetry. Her work often addressed themes of social justice, feminism, and personal experience. "For Moe Who Died" exemplifies her irreverent yet moving style. The poem first appeared in print in the San Francisco Chronicle on April 2, 1997.
