The Contact

This zine was published just two years after Lithuania formally declared independence from the Soviet Union. In the editorial section, Romas Buivydas comments on the result of the November 1992 election where the former communist party, the Lithuanian Labor Party. Buivydas writes that “elections showed our people are not prepared to be free .... Maybe, in the next elections, our people will have some more political experience and would understand that only free people can live in a free and economically developed state.” Much like American fanzines, this issue focuses on past and future conventions, Lituanicons, as well as other recently published science fiction magazines. Tucked within the page of this zine was a letter written by Buivydas to Robert Lichtman in which he goes into more detail about local politics and inquires about the use of computers in publishing.
