Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens
James M. Barrie was already an established author by the time he published Peter Pan. Initially published as a play in 1904, the Peter Pan story is revisited in Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens, published in 1906. This is the story of a pre-Neverland Peter Pan, immediately after he runs away from home and his mother. The story eventually developed into Peter Pan and Wendy, which is the Peter Pan story with which most readers are familiar.
