Label 5: 1545 Munster

Sebastian Münster’s (1489-1552). Geographia vniversalis, vetvs et nova, (Basileae: per Henrichvm Petrvm, 1545) work is yet another version of Ptolemy.

The first image shows the title page. The title refers to universal geography, old and new.  

The second image depicts Ptolemy, while the third and fourth display Ptolemaic projections.

This image shows the Americas. Note the label "India fuperior" situated in modern day Russia.  A bit of Antarctica appears.
