The Laboratory Starring in Fiction and Film
Laboratories have figured prominently in popular culture for centuries. Most notable, of course, are in books of fiction like Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein and Robert Louis Stevenson’s Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Laboratories have also been featured in comics. in The Incredible Hulk, scientist David Banner is transformed into a green monster, and in Spiderman Peter Parker acquires enhanced powers from a contaminated spider bite during an experiment gone terribly wrong.
This section of the exhibit discusses several feature films from recent years in which laboratories played a starring role. These movies were borrowed from members of the Lehigh University Libraries staff.
