Record
The castle of knowledge. Imprinted at London : By Reginalde Wolfe, 1556.
Robert Record (1510-1558) studied and taught mathematics both in Oxford and Cambridge Universities. His work The Castle of Knowledge (1556) is a treatise on the sphere and on Ptolemaic astronomy.
Written in the form of a dialog between master and pupil, this book mentions the heliocentric theory of Copernicus, promising to deal with the subject at greater length in a subsequent work. Record died in 1558 in London and never had an opportunity to realize this promise.
