Piccolomini
Alessandro Piccolomini (1508-1578) advocated Ptolemaic astronomy, though he took issue with the Aristotelian and Ptolemaic view that there was more water than land.
His interests were manifold; he wrote comedies and sonnets, translated classical works, commented on Aristotle's mechanics, and was a professor of philosophy. Sfera del mondo, the book shown here, is one of his astronomical works.
