Chandler Encyclopedia and Epitome of Universal Knowledge

Chandler’s Encyclopedia was named for and edited by William Henry Chandler, PhD, FCS, Lehigh professor of Chemistry, designer of the Chemical Laboratory, and director of the Lehigh Library. It was published in 1897 in three volumes and includes contributions from a large number of eminent scientists including Lehigh professors Mansfield Merriman, Benjamin Frazier, Charles L. Doolittle, Edmund M. Hyde, Joseph Klein and William Estes, who was a St. Luke’s Hospital surgeon and lecturer on physiology and hygiene.
