About the Exhibit

This exhibition celebrates the 300th birthday of Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790). A selection of materials from Special Collections authored or printed by Benjamin Franklin are on display at the temporary location of the Special Collections, Fairchild-Martindale Library, Room 625. Highlights of the exhibition are Cool Thoughts on the Present Situation (1764), the July 10, 1776 issue of Pennsylvania Gazette which containing the Declaration of Independence, the Charter of Pennsylvania (1742), Franklin on Electricity (1769), a letter (1764) autographed by Franklin, and other works written or published by him.

The exhibition continues with a selection of recent publications on Benjamin Franklin in the New Books section of the Fairchild-Martindale Library Lobby.

The exhibition in the lobby can be viewed during the library hours; Special Collections materials may be viewed Monday-Friday, 1-5 p.m. in Fairchild-Martindale Library Room 625.
