Washington 2 March 1823

Dear Sir,

I duly received your favour of the 18.th [undecipherable]. and

learn with much satisfaction, that my young relative can be received for the

benefit of the instruction at your academy His name is Thomas Johnson Heffen,

and he will be the bearer of this letter. Mr Plumer is is kind enough to take him

under his protection and will have fun at Exeter, as he [undecipherable] through on his

way home.
